Solar Schools Program
The National Solar Schools Program (NSSP) has opened for applications. The 2011-12 application round will close on 30 September 2011.

Funding available
Grant funding totalling $25.04 million is available to schools in 2011-12.

NSSP Overview
The program offers eligible primary and secondary schools grants of up to $50,000 or up to $100,000 for multi-campus schools, to install solar PV electricity and solar hot water systems.
Since the Program commenced on 1 July 2008, almost 7,300 schools have registered their interest to participate. Total funding of more than $116 million has already been paid to over 2,600 schools. Of these, more than 1,600 projects have been installed across the nation. These schools are already generating their own electricity from renewable sources and improving their energy efficiency by reducing energy consumption.
The National Solar Schools Program (NSSP) helps primary and secondary schools around the country to take practical action to save energy and cut their electricity bills; while providing educational benefits for students in learning about renewable energy and environmental stewardship.
